Hearts of Iron III is an epic strategy game depicting WWII. This is one intensely complicated game with tons of things you can do to micromanage your empire. In the first to iterations of Hearts of Iron, this was rather heavy and hard to play because of all the micromanagement. This time however Paradox Entertainment has added a lot of automation so that you can get down to the real business of fighting the war. This is a rare instance when more automation has actually made the game better. Before it was easy to get bogged down with all the micromanagement and you felt like you were actually a slave to the game, instead of being able to control the game. Now that is all turned around and you are able to look at the big picture and reign from on high. You can automate spying, resources, diplomacy, army building, fighting and more. If you want to micromanage a certain aspect however you are definitely free to do that.

One problem with the game is that there are a lot of calculations going on in the background it seems at all times and so the screen jumps around every now and then and the game lags. It’s a little frustrating but it does not make the game unplayable. One thing to remember when playing this game is that it is slow paced and still very much targeted to those who love long drawn out strategy games. That said it is much easier to understand than the previous versions and makes a great addition to the top 10 PC games list.

Next up is Dawn of Discovery. Exploration is quite a fun topic and what could be better than having a complex game about it where you can explore the world!? It is difficult to advance your settlements to the highest levels and so this isn’t a game that will appeal to those who aren’t willing to really learn how to play well, but for those who love the game and really get into it, there is a lot of reward for your hard work.

It’s a good idea to start off in the campaign mode to give yourself a feel for what the game is all about and how it works. It’s so complex that some feel this is almost a requirement before attempting the continuous play mode. The continuous play mode however is where the fun really starts. Instead of running around doing missions for people you are able to set your own goals and accomplish whatever you wish. This game is all about discovering new lands, building settlements, and managing your populations in order to advance your society. It’s difficult to start off because the game doesn’t really tell you how to do anything and the manual is pretty much useless as well. Once you figure it out though, you’ll have a blast. Good luck and enjoy exploring yet another of the top 10 PC games!

Red Faction: Guerrilla is a game that doesn’t have much subtleties to it but it lets you destroy things. It’s fun to destroy things. It’s SO fun to destroy things, especially in this game. You can use the sledgehammer to level bridges, walls and entire buildings killing everyone inside. The best thing is that you can raze everything to the ground and you’ll find yourself destroying things just to see how they fall apart.

Some pros for the game are that first and foremost, you can destroy everything. The single player mode is long and difficult to complete. The multiplayer mode is also very good and seems exciting. The graphics are great and the sound effects to go along with it are stunning. The cons involve a weak storyline, repetitiveness and slower speeds when played on the PC. The weak storyline involves you, the main character wanting revenge for his brother’s death. Well there’s no twists or anything to the story and we know exactly what’s happening. This is more than made up for with the exhilarating game play, however. If you’ve ever wanted to destroy something, now is the best time!

The second game today is Resident Evil 5. RE4 offered groundbreaking game play methods and now RE5 polishes it a little more and adds even more of the fun factor. Resident Evil 5 introduces a second player and having a teammate play with you comes in really handy an awful lot, especially when dealing with the more difficult bosses. It changes the feel of battles for the good and just gives the game a fresh aura. You’re even able to swap items that you are carrying with your teammate. Each character is able to hold up to 9 items and you’ll have to plan carefully what you carry so that you’ll be able to beat the more difficult enemies. Make sure you know who is carrying what when you get into battles.

The fighting is slower and more deliberate in this game than many others, so that may be a turn off for something expecting something fast paced such as Halo. Play this for long enough though and you’ll come to enjoy it. One great thing to be said for the inventory system is that if you program it correctly you can have access to everything with just one button click. This means you’re able to access and swap weapons in the blink of an eye.

Over all these are two great games and definitely fall into the top 10 PC games.

The Street Fighter series has been around for a long time and the game makers have been able to tweak and improve the game so that it’s about as good as it can be. You’ll be in for a treat in this latest version of the game. It’s rated as one of the top 10 PC games for a reason.

All the original 12 fighters are available in this game and are playable from the start. You also now have 6 additional fighters that you can unlock through playing the game. You’ll have to actually beat the game several times in unique ways in order to unlock everything. It’ll take some time and persistence but is well worth it.

You are able to build up EX when you deal damage to your opponent, and you get revenge when you take damage. You can use these to attack your opponent later. These are able to help the advanced player and add another weapon to his arsenal. The basic attacks all work as well and you don’t need to know what EX and revenge is until you want to move up and become a more advanced player. If any game has ever been said to be able to be learned in a minute but mastered in a lifetime, this game is definitely one of those. There are so may intricacies that will take you a long time to completely understand and be able to perform.

The 2nd game I’d like to review in this post is Sims 3. This is the latest version that many fans will enjoy playing. One of the biggest changes in this version from all the previous ones is that it no longer requires you to play in one household, but instead can go roving around from house to house or store to store or to whatever building you like in the entire neighborhood. It’s a great way to expand the game and create a more seamless playing experience.

It is the same as the previous versions in that you still have control over what your Sim does and your Sim still has needs that need to be fulfilled. You have more variety in what you can do however and you can make friends more readily with the option of going into town. Sims have more realistic personalities in this game now as a result of better AI. They still age, grow old and die. New Sims also show up after some time, which creates a sense that this is actually a real living environment.

All in all it’s a good game and is definitely worth the purchase, you won’t be disappointed. You can’t go wrong in playing any of the games that are reviewed here….hey, they’re the top 10 PC games!

If you’re looking for an exciting game to play, you just found one. Many of the critics are rating this version of Batman as the best game of 2009 thus far and it no doubt has made the list of the top 10 PC games in my book. There’s quite a bit to talk about in how this game is played, so I’ll just hit on the top points and you can make up your mind about the game for yourself. That said, I’m pretty sure you’ll like it.

The atmosphere in the game is rather unsettling. Arkham has obviously been through, to say it nicely, a lot. Everything about it has been ravaged and is in complete shambles. At the beginning of the game the Joker is brought in as a captive but he soon changes role from captive to captor. You can hear his voice taunting you over the loud speaker the entire game, which gives him a feeling of omnipresence. It is very eery.

As Batman you have several attack methods. The combinations are easy to learn but hard to master. One thing about this batman is that he isn’t allowed to kill anyone. You’d think that with the place filled to the brim with the scum of the earth he’d be allowed a higher level of lethality. However that is not the case, and actually lends itself well the game. You are allowed to beat the crap out of the thugs, which isn’t too difficult when it’s just thugs you’re fighting. When they come and turn on the heat however it makes it more difficult and you have to be very strategic with how you play.

Besides beating the crap out of people you can also be a little more stealthy about it. You can string them up by their feet from the gargoyles overhead, swoop down on them and knock them out, or pull them off of ledges and have them crash to the floor. It’s all quite fun!

There are over 240 gems hidden around the game map for you to find. There are riddles, interview tapes trophies and more. You’ll spend a lot of time exploring the map looking for these, but they are all well worth the hunt. It’s great just to walk around and explore anyways, there’s a lot to see.

The only bad thing I can see about the game are the boss fights. They just aren’t very impressive and don’t fit seamlessly into the game. For a game as giant as this however, that one point is just a passing thought and I suggest checking out Batman: Arkham Asylum, one of the top 10 PC games of 2009.

Here at The Top 10 PC Games we strive to provide you with plenty of information about all the Top 10 PC Games. We have a pretty healthy appetite for PC games and our goal here is to keep you up to date as much as possible. Want to know what people are thinking about the top 10 pc games? Then come here in the future and you’re sure to find some valuable information!

I’m a pretty avid gamer and so I definitely like to know what’s the best game out there in different categories, and that’s what this blog is all about. I tend to prefer strategy games, both turn based such as Civilization and real time such as Age of Empires. Those two classics and all their later versions definitely rank high on my list. I remember going into internet cafes with friends and spending several hours staring at the computer screen as we demolish each other’s cities over and over with hordes of soldiers in Age of Empires 2. There’s just something about seeing an army of 100+ Elite War Elephants coming out of the forest upon your nicely built city. Well you know that is all about to change!

Well that’s enough about that. On to today and what’s currently popping! According to gamespot.com, the Top 10 PC Games of the last 6 months are:

1) Batman: Arkham Asylum
2) Street Fighter IV
3) The Sims 3
4) Red Faction: Guerrilla
5) Resident Evil 5
6) Hearts of Iron III
7) Dawn of Discovery
8) Prototype
9) Plants vs. Zombies
10) ARMA II

I’d like to go into a review of each of these games, but will leave that for later posts. There are some real gems in this list. Prototype for example is a pretty excellent game. I don’t want to spoil it all right now, but can you imagine a dude who knows no bounds and likes to fly around Manhattan eating zombies and blowing up helicopters and tanks? He feels no pain and can take on the powers and abilities of everyone he comes into contact with! Well, like I said, don’t wanna spoil it for you! For now just have some fun gaming!

Just real quick though, check out this link. This blog is primarily about the current top 10 PC games, but I thought this was a great nostalgic post about games of the past.
